Building on its mission to co-develop solutions with farmers, Boresha Mavuno Agritech conducted the Farmer Engagement & Dialogue – Mbale Chapter at Wash and Wills Hotel, Mbale, which was supported and funded by the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) through the IYBA WE4A 2024 Program. This session brought together 100 farmers to strengthen collaboration with them and explore solutions to agricultural challenges.
A stakeholder-driven needs assessment was also conducted, providing valuable insights into the key agricultural challenges affecting productivity, including: • Low access to modern farming knowledge and training (90% of farmers). • Pests and diseases impacting yields (76%). • Limited access to quality seeds and fertilizers (73%). • Unpredictable weather patterns and climate change risks (70%). • Post-harvest losses due to poor storage and market access barriers (61%). These findings are shaping Boresha Mavuno Agritech’s digital platform, which will include AI-driven precision farming tools, financial access solutions, and sustainable waste management innovations. The company is committed to working with farmers, policymakers, and development partners to enhance sustainability, resilience, and profitability in African agriculture.
