On February 22, 2025, Boresha Mavuno Agritech successfully hosted a Farmer Engagement and Dialogue session in one of the farming communities of Malaba, Uganda. This event, which was supported and funded by the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) through the IYBA WE4A 2024 Program, was designed to strengthen collaboration with farmers and explore solutions to agricultural challenges.
During the session, 100 female smallholder farmers participated in discussions focusing on:
• Market access limitations and the need for direct linkages to buyers.
• Post-harvest losses, emphasizing the importance of improved storage and logistics.
• Financial barriers, with farmers calling for affordable agricultural loans and digital financial solutions.
• Climate change challenges, including erratic weather patterns affecting yields.
• High costs of farm inputs and limited technology adoption, making it difficult for farmers to scale production.
• Agricultural waste management, with a strong interest in repurposing farm waste into organic fertilizers and bioenergy.
Boresha Mavuno Agritech reaffirmed its commitment to farmer-driven solutions by incorporating these insights into its digital platform, climate-smart agriculture training programs, and financial inclusion initiatives. Moving forward, the company will continue engaging farmers and developing technology-driven solutions to improve market access, enhance productivity, and promote waste-to-value initiatives.
